Yeovil 4 Works

Provide in person 1 to 1 free support to help residents look and apply for work. Yeovil 4 Work are willing to work in a specialist support capacity for those customers who are vulnerable, have additional learning needs or have multiple barriers to work and may require significant 1 to 1 support over a prolonged period with stepping stones by social engagement.

Action for Blind/RNIB

Recognise everyone’s unique experience of sight loss and offer help and support for blind and partially sighted. Better support clients with sight loss. Work with partners to deliver tailored employment solutions, and have developed tools to help blind and partially sighted people find work. While supporting welfare to work providers and those whose role involve helping blind and partially sighted people into work.

Heart of the South West Growth Hub

Free support to those who are interested in setting up a business. Also potential to present information and talk on sectors and careers with high areas of growth and links with Bootcamps.

Princes Trust

Help for 11 – 30 year olds to  get a job, start a business or finding training. Loads of useful resources including labour market information what jobs will be needed in the future and money management advice.

Help for next steps advice, getting back into work and support for people with additional barriers or disabilities, work for social prescribing.

Seetec offer employability support through health and wellbeing programmes.

Mencap 3 ships

Mencap’s employment services support people with a learning disability to develop the skills and confidence needed to get a job.

The Hub Yeovil

To provide support and training to empower the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism, helping each individual achieve their own personal independence, support their community and work together, beyond disability.

Physical host in Chard and Yeovil with digital devices. Digital devices for use and loan to support with job training, applications and interviews.

Positive People

Positive People offers a lifeline to build hope, confidence and skills for people who are not in work. To support to people who are unemployed for over a year or unemployed and disadvantaged (limited digital skills) by providing access to individual support to create and manage a CV online, online job searching and virtual job clubs.

Somersetworks

Mentor and Transition Officer attending Employment Hubs or available via video call once a week to support NEETS/traineeships and apprenticeships. Referral form here.

Tenancy Sustainment officers work on a 121 basis with our customers providing guidance, advice and support at any point in someone’s tenancy. Support for welfare benefits system, including Universal Credit, finance and budgeting, grants. 

Yeovil Art Space

Arts and Cultural activities for the benefit of the community, mindful activities and opportunities for social inclusion and team working.

Chard Watch CIC

Peer support project for isolated adults needing support. Anyone that joins the project can become a member and contribute to running the organisation democratically. 

Members get an elevated sense of confidence and empowerment by enabling them to take their own positive steps. The group provides workshops and activities like: art, reading, drama, personal awareness courses, IT to help people reach their potential.

Balsam Centre

Opportunities hub in Wincanton with digital devices for use and loan to support with job training, applications and interviews.

National Career Service (NCS)

Will provide virtual and telephone support to carry out a skills and preferences type audit to help identify potential careers and training pathways and help to get a job.

Spark

Promotion and recruitment to volunteer placements to provide customers with training, new skills and work experience opportunities. Potential links with Social Prescribing work.

Young Somerset

Provides support through the Somerset Skills for young people programme for young people who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET. Includes workshops providing professional guidance on how to maintain positive well-being.

Diversity Voice

Can provide both translation and interpretation at a small cost. They also are able to act as a key outreach centre for communities where English is not their first language. Running English learning support groups.

Open Mental
Health Network

Open Mental Health (OMH) is a Somerset Alliance of local Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations and the NHS, in conjunction with Somerset County Council.

There is Locality Co-ordinator and Locality Lead  employed through the Balsam Centre wincanton) and the Locality Operations Manager, who is responsible for the oversight and effective delivery of OPEN Mental Health work across South Somerset.
